Shell, Jr., John C., age 92, of Knoxville, passed over on Tuesday, July 12, 2011 surrounded by loved ones at his home. Mr. Shell was a member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church, the Masonic Lodge and the Shriners. He served in the Army in the European African Middle Eastern Theater during WWII where he had been a POW. Mr. Shell was awarded the Purple Heart and 2 Bronze Stars in addition to several Campaign, Service and Victory Medals for his brave and honorable service to his country.

Preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Wilma Wagoner Shell. Survived by his daughter, Margie Davis; 2 grandsons, John Davis and his partner, Lisa, Joe Davis and his wife, Kristi;3 great-grandchildren, Henry, George, and Ruthie; 3 honorary grandchildren, Westin Bryant, Kory and Kenzie Williamson.
Family and friends will meet on Monday, July 18th at 9:30am in the Rotunda of Tennessee Veterans Cemetery, 5901 Lyons View Pike, Knoxville, TN for interment. Full military honors will be conducted.
